This year, ELNET was again present with its innovation projects GIHF<\/a>-AI<\/a> and GINSUM<\/a> at the DMEA<\/a>–<\/a>Connecting<\/a> Digital<\/a> Health<\/a> 2023<\/a>. Europe’s most important digital health event was held under the patronage of German Health Minister Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach. The largest DMEA to date, with more than 700 exhibitors and over 16,000 participants, took place in the spacious halls of Messe Berlin from April 25-27, 2023. 300 national and international speakers discussed the next steps in the digitization of healthcare. As part of DMEA, ELNET brought Israeli digital health startups as well as decision-makers from the Israeli healthcare ecosystem to Berlin.<\/p>\n

At the invitation of ELNET, GIHF-AI Board of Trustees member Prof. Dr. Ronni Gamzu, CEO of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), also visited the DMEA. He gained momentum for Israel’s second-largest hospital and exchanged ideas with Israeli digital health startups Cognishine<\/a>, Indolex<\/a> and Leema<\/a> at the GINSUM Startup Booth. To further network the startups with medium-sized companies, members of the German parliament and representatives of German hospitals, ELNET invited about 25 guests to ELNET’s DMEA Dinner. After the welcome address by Carsten Ovens, Executive Director of ELNET-Germany, Karen Bronner, Director of Health Promotion and Digital Health at Assuta Medical Center, gave a keynote speech on digital health and innovation in Israel.<\/p>\n

As part of the panel of German Trade and Invest (GTAI), Lea Ledwon, GIHF-AI Program Manager, shared the Israeli perspective on electronic health records (ePA), health data use for research and development, and innovation in healthcare. The discussion with representatives of the international delegations from Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Israel and France also dealt with core topics of the GIHF-AI such as the European Health Data Space (EHDS), interoperability and international cooperation in the field of digital health. Ledwon emphasized that Israel is more than 20 years ahead of most European countries in the area of health data use. Among other things, this led to Israel’s highly developed healthcare system being instrumental in the development of a corona vaccine. In addition, she said, there are now more than 700 digital health startups in the small Middle Eastern state with a population of less than 10 million.
