GIHF-AI at the DMEA 2022 in Berlin: Three days of e-health with Israeli perspectives

From April 26 to 28, 2022, the DMEA, Europe’s most important trade fair and congress for digital healthcare, took place under the motto “Connecting Digital Health”. 11,000 digital health experts from almost 30 countries gathered in the spacious halls of Messe Berlin. With the German Israeli Health Forum for Artificial Intelligence (GIHF-AI) and the German Israeli Network of Startups and Mittelstand (GINSUM) , ELNET took part in the fair for the first time and brought Israeli know-how in the field of digital health to Berlin.

At the invitation of ELNET, Israeli Minister of Health Nitzan Horowitz gave a digital keynote and encouraged Germany to store health data and use it for research and innovation. His colleague Esti Shelly, Director of Digital Health at the Israel Ministry of Health, reiterated this, stressing that innovation in healthcare is only possible through interoperable and connected data. She too followed ELNET’s invitation and took part in the DMEA in person. In addition to the GIHF-AI Panel on the topic “A German-Israeli Dialogue about Digital Health & AI”, where she engaged in discussions with GIHF-AI advisory board members Nicole Formica-Schiller and Dr. Johannes Wimmer, as well as Eyal Baum and Carsten Ovens, she also participated in the #eHealthHotSeat. Here, alongside Thomas Renner, Deputy Head of the Digitalization and Innovation Department at the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG), she answered questions from the audience and moderators Carsten Ovens and Dennis Geisthardt (bvitg e.V.).

Four Perspectives on Digital Health in Israel

In the spirit of networking German medium-sized companies and the Israeli startup scene , ELNET brought the three Israeli digital health startups binah.ai , briya.ai and Olive Diagnostics to the DMEA with GINSUM. At a pitch event and at the GINSUM Startup Booth, they were able to present themselves optimally and establish contacts.

“DMEA is a real highlight. Our team is excited to meet so many people in one place who are working on the big questions of digitization in healthcare. In particular, we’re interested in how Artificial Intelligence can contribute to improving the health of us all.”

Carsten Ovens, Executive Director ELNET Germany

Several media reported on the DMEA and ELNET, including the Tagesspiegel and the Deutsche Apotheker Zeitung (DAZ) .
