The unprecedented attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists, including hundreds of civilians murdered, thousands of rockets fired at cities, and dozens of civilians and soldiers taken hostage in Gaza, has also led to a strain on Israel’s health system.
On October 10, 2023, Moshe Arbel, the Minister of Health, and Moshe Bar Siman Tov, the Ministry of Health Director General, thanked the medical teams for their dedication and hard work in the wake of the massive and brutal attacks by Hamas on Israeli soil: “We are all going through difficult and complicated times. On Saturday, we woke up to a very difficult morning as we admitted hundreds of injured people to hospitals in southern Israel. So far, more than 2,000 injured people have been treated by the healthcare system, as well as many thousands of people who required emotional support. Our hearts widen and we do not have enough words to thank you for the dedication with which you have stepped up to the task, leaving behind your families and setting the care for others as your top priority. Our appreciation toward you grows with each passing hour and every day. We are likely facing a long period in which we will all need to step forward in order to ensure that each Israeli who requires medical care will be able to receive the excellent care that the Israeli healthcare system is able to provide. Thanks to you, the healthcare system will continue to work and save lives and assist the people of Israel in this crucial period. You shine like a small light in the darkness and give strength to all of us during those extremely difficult times.”
The Israeli Ministry of Health is building a list of medical personnel from abroad to volunteer in Israel should the need arise, inviting friends of Israel to add their names to our growing community of medical personnel who stand with Israel. Doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other medical personnel licensed abroad who wish to volunteer should join using the Ministry of Health’s online form, to ensure pre-clearance of medical licenses:
