On the initiative of the GIHF-AI, the digital policy innovation project of ELNET, high-ranking representatives of the German healthcare sector and members of the GIHF-AI Board of Trustees have signed a note of solidarity for Israeli healthcare staff. The letter is worded as follows:
“Hamas’ brutal terrorist attack on Israel has killed over 1,400 Israelis and taken at least 239 people hostage in the Gaza Strip (Date: 08.11.23, Source: IDF). Over 7,000 people are currently receiving treatment in Israel’s hospitals for physical and psychological injuries. In addition, it can already be assumed that a significant number of individuals are expected to develop post-traumatic stress disorder, necessitating treatment.
As representatives of German healthcare facilities, we strongly condemn the terrorist attacks by Hamas and express our deepest sympathy and solidarity with the Israeli people. In particular, this note of solidarity is addressed to the healthcare staff in Israel: Day and night, you are responsible for maintaining medical care at the highest level, even though most of you have been directly or indirectly affected by the attacks. You make an indispensable contribution to the physical and mental recovery of the population. Rest assured that we are standing even closer by your side in these terrible days.
The German Israeli Health Forum for Artificial Intelligence (GIHF-AI), an initiative by the European Leadership Network (ELNET), calls on medical staff outside of Israel to register on a list of the Israel Ministry of Health. The list signs them up as volunteers, allowing the Israel Ministry of Health to deploy them on-site if necessary. The signatories to this letter welcome this initiative.”
